Well, show season is in full swing and the weather is good (for now at least), so why not take a trip to Silverstone and take in the sights?
Ford Fair is a yearly even which is billed as the biggest in Europe, I can believe that with the amount of different Ford clubs, tuners and manufacturers that show up, it really is a huge deal.
Myself and Mike did the usual initial walk around to see what jumped out at us so I thought I’d share that first…
Being that we are both MK1 Focus RS owners, it’s always funny to see so many in the same place!
Loving this combination of white wheels and red AP’s – very motorsport – which is of course the heritage of the car….
As shown here in this full on example.
I was surprised to find that the new Mustang had a pretty decent presence this year, and not just in standard form, how about a wide bodied one?
Or this cop car inspired beast from KMS exhausts…
…perhaps slamming your ride is your thing? There seemed to be every angle covered.
Lowwwwww.
Talking of Ford’s latest and greatest, there were MK3 RS and ST focus’….a LOT of them. I’ve actually come to like the shape a bit more since seeing them on the road – and I don’t even mind the five doors now!
The Fiesta ST is another platform that’s getting a lot of exposure, with people battling to get theirs noticed, even employing bold liveries to do so.
Groovy… I’m of a fan of more simple approach personally, although this MSport livery is wicked
I’m not sure you can quite beat the Sierra Cosworth though, especially an RS500, that whale tail is just so iconic.
In all honesty, I’d have a hard time deciding between the Escort and the Sierra, both are bonkers, absolutely bonkers.
I might be biased on the colour though!
This racecar version was smashing it round the track all day making noise and showing up its younger brothers with real flair.
Seriously cool.
So was this, check out the camber on there, function over form people….
Talking of which, check out the front tyres on this bad boy, what do you suppose it’s for?
I bet the side exit exhaust isn’t exactly subtle!
Over in the classics section, the real old school escorts looked so amazing, this blue example was my favourite.
Closely followed by this bronze one, it looked amazing in the sun.
The shine on this Lotus/JPS liveried car was brilliant.
So classy too.
Just as a bit of variation, we spotted a nice R8 in the paddock too, the wing just looks so right.
We made our way round to Ford’s own display and saw something stunning, something I’ll probably never see again in person…
Needless to say, crowds were flocking to get a glimpse, with them being sold so exclusively to individuals it’s going to be rare to see one.
We managed to get a video of it rotating, check it out.
We then headed off to get a decent spot to check out some track time and take in the madness!
This Jamsport RS was going well, although I’ve seen pictures which suggest it didn’t end so brilliantly…
It was certainly interesting to see normally quick cars being out dragged by a van, god knows what was in that thing!
AutoSpecialists’ time attack Fiesta was doing well against some much bigger metal.
As was their MK3 RS, it’s great to see these getting an aftermarket following so quickly.
Talking of which, Mountune were showing off their ST and RS demo cars, including how well the latter could drift through the tight sections..
The old school guys were getting it done too.
Overall it was a great day, plenty of cool cars and a great atmosphere with all ages coming together to celebrate their passion.
